Designed with operator experience and profitability in mind, the new Great Plains PL5800 Planter delivers simplicity in operation and accuracy in planting. The PL5800 features a new 5000 Series Row Unit with an all-new Great Plains Air-Pro® Meter and seed delivery system to ensure precise singulation and planting accuracy, and excellent seed-to-soil contact.IRC offers the benefit of variable-rate planting with turn compensation and section control and reduces maintenance by eliminating all chains and shafts. To provide proper singulation, a 66% larger seed pool reservoir, combined with a 92% larger seed inlet opening, help keep the meter full at higher speeds. Available in single-row and twin-row configurations, this front-folding planter also comes with new, shorter closing wheel mounts (on select row spacings) to ensure proper seed-to-soil contact and furrow closing while planting. 

The PL5800’s frame has been simplified and features redesigned wing toolbars that supply meter air pressure, eliminating the need for a dedicated air manifold above the toolbar. The new, innovative dual-fan air system delivers a wide variety of seeds to the meters—even on difficult terrain. 

To simplify operator interfaces and planter monitoring, the PL5800 uses a new WSMT3 Control System. The planter is offered with a Topcon X35 monitor, but is also ISO-certified so other monitors can be used. Like all Great Plains planters, Row-Pro™ systems are available to automatically maintain the proper down pressure on the row unit, giving producers peace of mind.

5000 SERIES AIR-PRO® METER

• The 5000 Series Air-Pro­­ Meter offers industry-leading singulation with its simple, positive air pressure meter. It includes a large seed pool and seed inlet opening so the meter stays full — even at higher speeds.

5000 SERIES ROW UNIT

• The 5000 Series row unit features 15" 4mm opener blades that are offset 1/2" to handle residue and cut through tough soil conditions. The shorter closing wheel arm maintains better seed-to-soil contact around curves and contours.

GREAT PLAINS ISO SOLUTIONS SUITE

• The Great Plains ISO Solutions Suite delivers a simplified and universal ISOBUS-based interface solution that includes plug-and-play setup without the need for expensive aftermarket unlocks and subscriptions; access to remote support; and terminal extension capabilities from the field. This solution can be used with all Great Plains ISOBUS-compatible products.

ADVANCED AIR DELIVERY SYSTEM

• A dual-fan air system with a newly-designed seed pickup system provides advanced seed delivery for many types of seed with various seed treatments, even across uneven terrain.

BULK DELIVERY

• Choose either 82-bu. or 150-bu. hoppers. 82-bu. hoppers can be equipped with two side tanks for liquid fertilizer. A dual-fan air system with a newly-designed seed pickup system provides advanced seed delivery for many types of seed with various seed treatments.

HEMP SEED DISC

• New, 5-cell and 30-cell hemp seed disc that meters seed accurately.

SIMPLIFIED FRAME DESIGN
